Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 7, 2001.

The arms show in the chief windmill blades, for the formerly important windmills in the parish. The sinking ship is the Galley São Nicolau, which sank on the local coast. This was one of the most striking events in the local history and thus taken in the arms.

The base shows the Atlantic Ocean and the importance of fishing.
