The arms were officially granted on May 4, 2006.

The bound horseshoes symbolize harmonious common living of several peoples (first of all Poles and Lithuanians). The blue colour symbolizes loyalty and consistency; also it refers to the local church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is normally associated with the colour blue.
