Origin/meaning
The arms are the arms of the city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands as the borough was founded in 1680 by the Dutch, Arent Schuyler and families. This fact is shown above, with the text Gestigt in 1680 (founded in 1680).
The supporters symbolise farming. The motto; ryend ondacx den storm, means moving, despite the storm.
