MONTCEY

Département : Haute-Saône

Armoiries de Montcey

Official blason

De gueules au chevreuil d'or passant sur un mont de trois coupeaux d'argent chargé d'une burelle vivrée de sable.

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of the Montaigu estate, which used a shield divided from red and silver, with in the upper part an eagle. The eagle has been replaced by a deer (roe), as a symbol for the local wildlife, and the base has been transformed to a mountain, to represent the local landscape. The mountain (mont) is also a canting symbol. The black zig-zagged bar represents the Equevillons caves in the municipality.
