ZAISENHAUSEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis): Karlsruhe
Official blazon
(de) Ein silberner Ring mit waagerechtem Balken im blauen Schild.
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 1911.
The arms are based on the historical village symbol. This symbol was used on border stones from 1611 and 1613 and on the church bell from 1681. The symbol was described in 1749 as a 'circle with a bridge' and has also been described as a 'sester' an old measure for wheat and other cereals. The symbol was used by a number of villages in Baden-Württemberg and the (now French) Elsass/Alsace region.
The oldest seal is known from 1747 and also shows the same symbol. In 1686 the local sheriff used his personal seal, the village thus probably did not had its own seal until 1747. In 1747 the village became part of the Pfalz, until 1747 it belonged partly to the Pfalz, partly to Württemberg.
In 1910 the State Archives of Baden (to which the village belonged at the time) designed two proposals for arms. The first showed the current arms, the second the arms with additional symbols for the Pfalz (lion) and Württemberg (deer antler). The municipality decided for the more simple design in the colours of the Bavarian rulers of the Wittelsbach family, to which the Pfalz area historically belonged.
