SNÆFELLSBÆR
Additions: 1994 Breiðuvíkurhreppur, Neshreppur utan Ennis, Ólafsvík, Staðarsveit
Origin/meaning :
The arms show Snæfellsjökull, a glacier topped volcano, which dominates the region and gave the region its name (Snæfell meaning snow mountain), and four fish for the four former municipalities. Fishing is still the main source of income for the region.
Literature : Image obtained from the Icelandic Association of Municipalities (Samband Íslenzkra Svetarfélaga)
