Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 11, 1992.

The upper part shows the eagle derived from the arms of the St. Maximin abbey in Trier, which ruled the area for many centuries. The lower part shows a bull's head, the symbol for St. Luke, the patron saint of the local church.
