Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on January 22, 1992. The arms are based on the old village seal from 1855. It already shows the canting composition of a farmer (Bauer) and a river (Bach). Although generally seen as a farmer, the figure may also have been a judge or similar, due to the stick, which has been interpreted as a judge's staff. The colours are taken from those of the Counts of Henneberg, whose castle was only a few killometers from the village.
