Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1935 and are derived from the arms of the Lords of Schleiden-Jünkerath. In 1269 the Lords of Schleiden acquired the castle in Jünkerath, and a branch of the family named itself after the castle. The family ruled the town for many centuries.
