METTINGEN

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Steinfurt (until 1975 Tecklenburg)

Wappen von Mettingen/Arms (crest) of Mettingen
Official blazon
German

In silbernem Schilde drei 2:1 gestellte rote dreiblättrige Kleeblätter.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 26, 1938.

The arms are based on the medieval arms of the Lords of Mettingen, known as vassals of the Counts of Tecklenburg in the 12-14th centuries. The arms are known from a seal of Gerhard von mettingen from 1299.

As no colours were known, the colours of the Tecklenburg County were used.
