Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 24, 1937.

The arms show the arms of Querfurt and the arms of Mansfeld in the first and fourth quarter. The counts of Mansfeld of the Querfurt family used as arms quartered Querfurt and Mansfeld. The second quarter represents the mining industry, which has been of importance in the area for centuries. The fish represents the many lakes and streams in the area.
