Origin/meaning

The County Rieneck was a county located in the present-day German states of Bayern. It existed as an independent territory from 1100-1806 under a series of different rulers. Since 1815 it is part of Bayern. Capital was Lohr am Main.

The arms show a barry shield, derived from the arms of the medieval counts (-1333). The bars have been used ever since for the territory.
