Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 2, 1976.
The Indian headgear symbolises the first inhabitants in the region. The fleur-de-lis is the symbol of St. Mary, the local patron saint.
The shield is flanked by coffee and corn branches, the main crops in the region.
