District : Kirchdorf an der Krems

Kremsmun.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted around 1850 and show a boar killed by a spear. This composition is taken from the historical arms of the Kremsmünster Convent. The arms are based on the legend that Duke Tassiko III of Bayern was huntingin the area. During the hunt his son Gunther was killed onder the dead body of a boar pierced with a spear. He promised to built a monastery on that particular spot.
