NÖTSCH IM GAILTAL

State : Kärnten
District : Villach-Land

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on June 15, 1960.

Until the late 13th and 14th century Wasserleonburg (the castle near Nötsch) was an important base for the counts of Görz and their arms consisted of a golden lion on blue ground. As the counts were of great importance in the history of the town, the arms were later adopted by the municipality.
