Arms of Übelbach

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 1, 2016, but are much older.

The oldest use of the arms is known from 1612. A contract from that year shows a bar of silver with marks, over a blue wavy base. The base clearly stands for the -Bach part of the name. The bar of silver refers to the silver mining in the town since 1590.

Later the bar of silver with its marks, was misinterpreted as a dice. Only in the recent grant, the original description was restored, even though it still looks like a dice.
