ŠIRVINTOS

County : Vilnius

Arms of Širvintos
Official blazon
Lithuanian blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1968, abolished in 1970, and regranted with some changes of design on October 30, 1997.

The moose refers to the rich local fauna and is canting: "sirvis" is the synonym of moose in local dialect of Lithuanian. Sword and red colour symbolize historical battles, as the Širvintos land depended to Kernave, one of main fortification complexes of early Lithuania.
