History: The Regiment was created in July 1939 from two Squadrons of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment stationed in Morocco. Went to France following the German Attack in 1940 part of the 97th Reconnaissance Group of the Infantry Division. Dissolved following armistice 15 November 1940 and officialy disbanded 1 June 1946. Recreated in November 1946 and disbanded January 1962.
