Origin/meaning

A similar emblem (without the Shield) was on 20 January 1945 approved for the 314th Bombardment Wing. The Wing was then charged with four red aerial bombs. And the Motto Destructio ab alto = Descruction from above was used. The Emblem from the 314th Air Division was approved on 9 May 1956.
