Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, a bend wavy Or between a fleur-de-lis and a lion rampant Argent, on a canton of the last a mullet of the first within a square one point to chief of the third superimposed on a septfoil of the first

Origin/meaning

Green is used for Armor. The Wavy Bend is form the arms of the German Rheinprovinz and symbolises action in that area during World War II. The Fleur de lis symbolises service in France and the French citation for Colleville. The Lion is form the arms of Belgium and symbolises Belgian citations for Mons and Eupen-Malmedy. The Canton symbolises descent from the 745th Tank Battalion. The Dragon stands for the Siegfried Line (Westwall). The Collar symbolises the capture of this Line. The Morning Star indicates the reduction of the City of Aachen.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 4 December 1964.
