Background

The album was published by the Abdulla Cigarette Company, Berlin-Johannisthal in 1928, as the first of a larger series of albums.

The album was mase for a series of relatively large cards (10 x 6 cm), Deutsche Städtewappen (German city arms). On the fornt of the cards the arms were shown, with information on the town and (sometimes) the arms. On the back was advertising for the cigarettes of the company. The album was printed by Franz Lindner in Ratibor. The author and the artist are not known.

-The albums were published as an initiatiev of regional newspapers; in Friesland the Friesch Dagblad, in Noord-Holland the Verenigde Noordhollandse Dagbladen and in Zuid-Holland Randstad Edities. There have been plans to extend the series to the other Dutch provinces, but these albums have never been issued.
