Di cielo, al mare di azzurro fluttuoso d’argento sostenente a sinistra lo scoglio di grigio al naturale uscente dal fianco sinistro; esso scoglio sostenente il castello triturrito d’oro, la torre centrale più alta e più larga, esso castello, murato di nero, merlato alla guelfa, il fastigio di cinque, le torri ognuna di tre, esso castello, aperto di nero finestrato dello stesso, tre poste in fascia; le torri ognuna di due ordinate in palo; la torre centrale sostenente il leone d’oro uscente, linguato di rosso, coronato all’antica d’oro, tenente, con le zampe anteriori l’asta di nero munita del vessillo bifido e svolazzante a destra di rosso caricato dalla croce d’oro, esso castello accompagnato a destra da tre faraglioni fortemente cuspidati di grigio al naturale fondati sul mare; il tutto accompagnato nel cantone destro del capo dalle lettere maiuscole A e G d’oro. Ornamenti esteriori da città.
Origin/meaning
The arms date from the first half of the 17th century, but were only officially described on November 30, 2005.
The three rocks are the rocks of the legendary Cyclops. The lion with the banner with the letters A and G is a symbol for the legend of Aci and Galatea, after the first the town was named.
