Wappen von Altaussee

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 14, 1971.

The arms show the characteristic silhouette of the Loser mountain. The Bergwerkszeichen (miner's tools) and the fountain refer to salt mining, which has been going on in the municipality since the 12th century. The "Sole" (salt-water) is also used for healing purposes.
