Portuguese Escudo cortado de prata e de negro. No primeiro, um castelo de vermelho, aberto e iluminado de negro acompanhado de duas quinas de Portugal. No segundo uma fonte de ouro realçada de negro repuxando de prata aguada de azul, acompanhada de duas flores-de-lis de ouro. Coroa mural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco com os dizeres a negro : " VILA DE ALTER DO CHÃO ".
