Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 26, 1956.

The arms combine the symbols of the patron saints of Rheurdt (St. Nicholas, apples) and Schaephuysen (St. Hubertus, deer). The colours are the old colours of Geldern, as the area was a possession of the dukes of Geldern.
