Official blazon

Escudo cortado.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 13, 1975.

The image on the upper half is the coat of arms of the monastic order of St. Augustine(lat.: Ordo Sancti Augustini, OSA), which had a convent within the boundaries of the municipality.

The image in the lower half is the coat of arms of the Núñez-family, the founders of the municipality. The grapes are symbolizing the viticulture on the soil of Arafo.

Añavingo is the name of a gorge, supplying the inhabitants with water. The lyra is an alusion to the musical traditions of the village.
