Wappen von Artern/Arms (crest) of Artern
Official blazon
German In Blau zwei senkrecht stehende, nach außen gebogene silberne Radfelgenstücke.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1929 and continued after the mergers in 1995 and 2019.

The present arms are derived from the arms of the Lords von Hake, who lived in Artern around 1300.

The previous arms as shown below, are based on the 16th century seal of the Counts of Mansfeld. The first and fourth quarter shows the arms of Querfurt-Mansfeld, the second qaurter shows the eagle of the Arnstein estate and the third the arms of the Estate of Heldrungen. In 1390 the Lords of Querfurt acquired the city. In 1448 the Counts of Mansfeld partially obtained the jurisdiction in the city and in the early 16th century they acquired the full possession of the city until the 19th century.
