Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on Jannuary 20, 1958.

The wolf is taken from the arms of the State of Passau, to which the area historically belonged since 1161. The crescents are taken from the arms of the Lords of Puechberg. This important Bavarian family originated in the village.
