Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The base, showing a small hill, indicates that the village is built on an artificial hill, as protection against the sea.

The pigeons are derived from a local legend. A Hake Betken from Büttel once was attacked and while dying he asked a flock of pigeons that was nearby to revenge him. The pigeons followed the murderers and one of them gave their position away when the pigeons appeared.
