Origin/meaning

The oldest use of a lamb dates from a shield shown on the St. Laurentius chapel in the town, built in 1620. The oldest seal of the town probably dates from the same time and also shows a lamb. On a second seal, from 1672, the arms show the lamb as a Paschal Lamb, i.e. with a stick with a banner. The original arms, however, show the lamb with a flail. The colours of the arms have changed during the years, but the above colours have been used since the late 19th century.
