Origin/meaning

The town developed around a monastery and became a city in 1200. The arms are probably a combination of the arms of the Counts of Jülich and a symbol of the Virgin Mary, the star. Both already appear in the seals from the early 14th century. Sometimes the star has 6 points, but the present arms are based on the seal of 1632, which shows five points.

In the early 20th century the arms below were shown in the Kaffee Hag albums. These arms show the same elements, but in a different composition.

Siegel von Bad Münstereifel

The municipal stamp shown in 1892
Wappen von Bad Münstereifel/Coat of arms (crest) of Bad Münstereifel

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes; Kaffee Hag albums 1920s.
