Origin/meaning
The eagle is taken from the arms of the Counts of Are and the city of Ahrweiler. The black lion is taken from the arms of Bad Neuenahr, and is the lion of the Dukes of Jülich.
The crown is a symbol for the Estate of Landskron, to which a part of the city historically belonged.
