Origin/meaning

The arms show the (legendary) arms of the Lords of Schussenried, who founded the Schussenried Abbey in 1183. The abbey ruled the city and its surroundings until 1802. The lion first appeared in the local seals around 1600. The arms were officially granted in 1948.
