Canton : Genève

Armoiries de Bardonnex

Official blazon

  • (fr) De gueules à la crois de Malte d'argent.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1922.

The arms are those of the Order of St. John of Malta, to which the local church and the village belonged from 1270 until the end of the 18th century. The church was given to the Order by the Bishop of Genève, Aymon de Menthonay, after which the Order built a Commandery in the village. The Order thus has been of great importance for the development of the village.

As no historical seals or arms were known, the cross was chosen in 1922.
