BARGEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Neckar Kreis
Incorporated into : 1976 Helmstadt-Bargen

Wappen von Bargen (Helmstadt-Bargen)/Arms (crest) of Bargen (Helmstadt-Bargen)
Official blazon
German

In von Gold und Rot gespaltenem Schild vorn ein roter Heuschober, hinten ein aufrechter goldener Schlüssel.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 3, 1950.

The right half of the arms show a hay-shed, which is a canting element (the name is derived from the old word Parac, or hay-shed). The key in the left half is the key of the Worms Abbey, which ruled the village from 1719-1803. The colours are those of Baden.

The village already received arms in 1901, which showed the letter B on the shield of the Wittelsbach family (in silver 24 blue diamonds). The village was from 1380-1803 part of the Pfalz, which was a possession of the Wittelsbach family (see the arms of Bayern).
