Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1962.

The Belvedere arms combine elements of the arms associated with St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order; St. Francis Xavier, patron of the College, and Lord Belvedere, whose Dublin home was the original school house for Belvedere College.
