Origin/meaning
The arms of Bietigheim are known from a seal dating from 1610. The arms are probably a combination of the old village sign (the cross) with the arms of Baden as an escutcheon. The cross may also be derived from the parish church devoted to the Holy Cross.
In the 19th century the seals of the town showed only a five- or six-pointed star, not in a shield. In 1900 the State Archives proposed new arms for the town, based on the old seal and in the colours of Baden. The local council finally agreed to the old arms in June 1904.
