Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 2009.

The two-headed eagle in refers to the coat of arms of the Sanok region, to which most of the county's area belonged to from the 14th century until 1772.

The birch refers to the name of the capital of the county, Brzozów , as well as to the old coat of arms of the city, used until 2009. The blue is taken from the the arms of the Sanok region, and also symbolizes the clear sky and the San River flowing through the area.
