Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in the early 20th century and are based on the only know seal of Bunde, dating from around 1550.

The ship indicates that the town at the time was an important harbour. This was made possible after severe flooding of the Dollart bay in 1362 and 1509. Later the land was reclaimed and Bunde lost its harbour.
