CAHAGNES

Département : Calvados

Blason de Cahagnes/Arms (crest) of Cahagnes
Official blazon
French De gueules au lion d'or supportant un glaive d'argent garni d'or; au chef d'or chargé de trois roses de gueules.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are those of the Novince d'Aubigny family, to which the village historically belonged. The colours, howver, were changed to distinguish the arms from the family arms. Also, a sword, taken from the arms of the Abbey of Notre-Dame du Val in Cahagnes has been added, as the abbey played a major role in the local development.
