CHEVILLY

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de Chevilly

Official blazon

Coupé au 1 d'argent semé de billettes de sable, au lion naissant du même, lampassé de gueules; au 2 d'or à deux mousquets de sable en sautoir.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1927.

The village was once part of the barony of La Sarraz, which was abolished in 1623. From then on, Chevilly was an estate held by a branch of the Gingins family, which kept it until 1798. The arms show in the upper half the Gingins arms. The muskets in the lower half are taken from an old flag of the locality
