DAHLENBURG

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Lüneburg
Additions: 1974 Buendorf, Eimstorf, Ellringen, Gienau, Lemgrabe

Wappen von Dahlenburg/Arms (crest) of Dahlenburg
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the town, dating from around 1500. Later seals show the same composition, but the size and shape of the towers varied widely. The towers are a symbol for the city rights, which were granted in 1289 by Duke Otto of Braunschweig. The lion is the lion of the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. The origin of the roses is not known.

Wappen von Dahlenburg/Coat of arms (crest) of Dahlenburg

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
