EMMABODA

Province (Landskap): Småland
County (Län): Kalmar län
Additions : 1969 Algutsboda, Vissefjärda; 1971 Älmeboda (partly, 1952 Långasjö)

Emmaboda kommunvapen

Official blazon

I fält av guld ett av kavlar bildat blått gaffelkors, åtföljt upptill och på vardera sidan av ett ospänt blått armborst.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 6, 1952.

The arms indicate that the village is at a railway junction. The typical local crossbows are taken from the arms of the Södra Möre härad, in which most of the municipality was situated.

The crossbows also indicate that the region was a highly disputed border region between Sweden and Denmark until Blekinge became part of Sweden in 1658.
