Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 10, 1961.

The arms show three wavy lines, which are partly a canting symbol (Beck=Bach=stream/river), but are derived from the medieval family Von Esbeck, which were important families in the cities of Lippstadt and Soest.
