Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 7, 1977.

The falcon is taken from the arms of the Counts of Falkenstein-Neuburg, who played an important role in the history of the area in the High Middle Ages. The chevron is taken from the arms on the seal of the Lords of Westerham documented in the first half of the 14th century. The Schaltorfer von Vagen, who were important as owners of Vagen Castle and as landlords from the mid-14th to the early 16th century, also had a chevron in their coat of arms.

The wavy bar symbolises the Mangfall river, which characterizes the landscape of the municipality, as well as the Goldbacherl in the area of the former municipality of Vagen.
