Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 7, 1974.

The arms show in the base three mountains, which are canting. The name probably derives from an old Slavonic word for 'near the mountains'. The standing cross refers to the Admont Abbey, which owned the region for a very long time. The wheel is the symbol of the local patron saint, St. Nicholas of Flüe.
