Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the city of Odernheim dates from 1286 and already shows a King's head with two wings. All later seals until the 17th century show a similar composition.

In the 17th century the image was replaced by the imperial eagle. In 1698 the old figure was restored, and a female figure was added as a supporter behind the shield.

The present arms were granted in 1961 and do no longer show the supporter.
