Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 7, 2001.

Gelendzhik is a resort on the Black Sea. The sun refers to the sunny climate and the waves to the Black Sea.

The first arms of the city were adopted on July 2, 1998:

The symbolism of these arms is identical to the current arms, but shown in a more naturalistic way.

These arms were replaced already a few months later, as new arms were approved on October 14, 1998.

These arms are basically identical to the current arms, but in a slightly different design.

In the 1970s and 80s several other designs have been used, but not approved officially.
