Origin/meaning

The arms are used since 1948.

The swallow in the lower part symbolises the rapidly growing municipality at the time, now a part of Greater Copenhagen. The four leaves are a symbol for the four former villages in the municipality: Buddinge, Gladsaxe, Mørkhøj and Bagsvård.
