Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 13, 1985.

The three keys are derived from the key of the oldest stav-church (typical wooden church) in Gol, which is now in the Norwegian Folk museum. Literature : Norwegian Municipal Network; Norske Kommunevåpen, Kommunalforlaget, 1987.
